This position involves engineering responsibilities related to mechanical equipment on the telescope and facility infrastructure. Key responsibilities include: - Designing, modeling, and troubleshooting mechanical systems - Leading a small team of technicians, emphasizing operations and maintenance of the HET telescope - Coordinating preventive maintenance programs for HET systems - Participating in planning meetings to establish priorities and schedules for maintenance and repair - Responding to technical issues on the telescope during various hours - Serving as part of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) for incidents affecting normal operations
